You're Going to Want to Go to the UP Fair This Year
The lineup includes UDD and SB19!
(SPOT.ph) Music festivals and fairs are a great way to watch all your favorite artists gathered in one place. The University of the Philippines Fair—or the UP Fair as many call it—is considered one of the most anticipated events in the local music scene. This year's week-long fair is starting on a Monday, and Callalily, Unique Salonga, Ebe Dancel, and UDD are headlining the February 10 show.
The Monday edition of the fair is called Hiwaga, and will feature performances from heavy metal band Slapshock, Pinoy pop boy group SB19, actress-singer Glaiza De Castro, This Band of "Kahit Ayaw Mo Na" fame, singer-songwriters Clara Benin and Reese Lansangan, and five-piece band Philia.
The University Student Council partnered with O/C Records to mount the Monday event. Artists from the label—Gian Magdangal, Earl Generao, Rice Lucido, Frizzle Anne, Bita and the Botflies, Martin Riggs, Calein, and Zsaris—are set to take the stage as well. Local bands Paraluman, bird., and The Busking Community PH round up the performers for that night.
And if you know anyone who dreams of performing at Sunken Garden for the UP Fair, this might just be their chance: Hiwaga is hosting a Battle of the Bands, and they've posted mechanics on the fair's Facebook page. If you're not keen on performing yourself and just want to enjoy a night of music, food, and games, tickets are being pre-sold on PlatinumList, and are priced at P100 for UP students, and P200 for regular tickets. If you're thinking of buying a ticket on the day itself, UP students can score tickets for P120, and regular tickets are sold at the door for P250.
