It's Official: A Twilight TV Show Is in the Works
Love it or hate it, Twilight is here to stay.
(SPOT.ph) More and more successful movie franchises are coming to the small screen (see: Harry Potter and Cruel Intentions)—and it’s a move that Twilight is getting behind.
Yes, this box office hit has plans for television 10 years after the franchise came to a close with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 in 2012. Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling book series has been picked up by Lionsgate Television, as first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Love it or hate it, there is no denying that Twilight created a lasting impact on pop culture since it debuted in 2008. This complicated relationship we have with Twilight has built enough of a cult following to garner a TV adaption of its own.

What we know about the Twilight TV series so far
So, is the Twilight TV series a simple remake of the movie based on Meyer’s four-book collection? Will it be a spin-off? Those are questions that Lionsgate Television is still trying to figure out themselves as they go through the early development stages.
There’s also no word on casting yet, but what we do know is that Sinead Daly is tasked to write the TV script for Twilight. Daly is behind The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Raised by Wolves, and Tell Me Lies.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources claim that Meyer’s participation in the TV adaption is expected. Already on board are Temple Hill Entertainment co-founder Wyck Godfrey and Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-president Erik Feig, the former of whom produced the original Twilight franchise on the big screen.
As of now, no network or streaming service is attached to the project.
The Twilight Saga was released from 2008 to 2012 with a total of five movies. In case you need a refresher, it follows the love story of human Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) as they face threats from werewolves and rival vampire clans. Despite years of ridicule and admiration, The Twilight Saga is currently the 19th highest grossing franchise with over $3.346 billion in revenue.
