Zack Tabudlo's New Track Fulfills His Dream of Working With a Hip-Hop Artist

(SPOT.ph) Whether you're into OPM or not, there's no denying the instant magnetism that can be felt from Zack Tabudlo's eloquent voice and heartfelt lyrics—such as through his heartbreaking hit "Pano" and the warmth of "Give Me Your Forever." It's been a long journey for Tabudlo since his rise to popularity during the earlier years of the pandemic, and there's clearly no stopping this artist as he ticks off another music goal at just 21 years old: to work with a hip-hop artist.

Zack Tabudlo fulfilled his dream through his new single "Fallin'", made in collaboration with multi-award-winning, platinum-selling South African artist Nasty C. The artists were connected through Coke Studio, Coca-Cola's global music platform that unites emerging and breakthrough artists from all over the world.

Why Zack and his music make perfect sense for Coke Studio

The Global COKE STUDIO was in search of an artist to represent the Philippines for its second season, and it was a no-brainer for the global Coca-Cola team and Universal Music Group to shortlist Zack.

He checked all the boxes. Zack is a breakthrough artist not just in the Philippines, but globally. He was one of the most streamed artists in the country, with his music making it across borders. Heck, other globally-known artists listen to him too, e.g. Jungkook of BTS played "Give Me Your Forever" in one of his live videos.

"We're a very melodic country, so his melodies are so good. We're also a lyrics-based country when it comes to the appreciation of music. And if you listen to his lyrics, it's very well thought of. So, from a musicality standpoint, he can break through, he can bring this unique flavor of the Philippines," the Coca-Cola team added in an interview with Manila Tribune.

Fulfilling the dream with "Fallin'"  

It had always been his dream to collaborate with a hip-hop artist, shared Zack to media during the song's launch on July 8. If you're a Zack fan, then you probably know "Gusto" which featured AI James released earlier in 2023. He also dabbled in producing hip-hop as a teen in Los Angeles, but this release is a whole new level. The artist counts "Fallin'" as his first official track with a hip-hop artist. 

Through Coke Studio's vision and Universal Music Group's curation, Zack's dream came to fruition years after he started out in the industry. And it was with none other than Nasty C, who was also making strides in the music scene, garnering more than a billion streams globally.

Living in different timezones, Zack and Nasty C worked on "Fallin'" virtually, which according to Zack, has always been the case since the pandemic started. It was a back-and-forth of demos and for Zack's part in the song, his guiding principle was to recreate the magic of falling in love through the track. 

He said during the press launch that he's always in love or going through a breakup, and that's how he gets inspiration for his music. In the case of "Fallin'," it's definitely more of the former. "It's like having the person that takes my hand, I'll do everything I can, but you can't just leave me out of nowhere because I'm falling for you."

The "Fallin'" track is now available on music streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube. A performance video will be launched on July 14.
