Halo-Halo, Swimming + More: NCT DoJaeJung Tells Us Their Fave Bits About the PH

(SPOT.ph) It hasn’t been a hot minute since Neo Culture Technology, or NCT’s newest sub-unit, NCT DoJaeJung—with members Doyoung, Jaehyun, and Jungwoo—graced the country with a fan and press conference. Obviously, practically no one has moved on from the presence of the trio (and will not, never).

NCT DoJaeJung performed in the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday, June 24, for their first-ever fan concert dubbed the Perfume: Scented Symphony, much to all the Filipino NCTzens' delight. They didn’t leave the country right after, instead following the concert up with a visit to the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati the next day. With their overflowing charm and unbelievable visuals, they shared a few tidbits about their bond, their must-try Filipino food, and a whole lot more.

From wanting to see Jaehyun act next as the bad guy-slash-villain (Jaehyun wanted to be a couch director); One of Doyoung's beloved soundtracks to be a part of (Like a Star from Yumi's Cells); what concept Jungwoo wants to try next (hip-hop) plus a few English words he's learned (like easy peasy, frustrating, and "It's been a while," among others), NCT DJJ had a lot of fun answering questions from their Filipino fans during their fan conference. 

Halo-halo... and lechon

Nothing beats the classic halo-halo, and even Doyoung, Jaehyun, and Jungwoo can agree—since they all said the Filipino dessert staple was one of the food (next to lechon, and understandably so) they wanted to try during their visit to the country this time around. They finally and immediately satisfied their halo-halo cravings though, a few hours after the press conference, by sharing Instagram stories with their glasses of the yummy Filipino dessert.

The energy of the Filipino fans

If there's that special thing that will make them come back to the country, it's—of course, the Filipino fans, Jaehyun says.

He adds, “I’d say this energy—with all the energy we’re receiving right now—it’s such an honor. It’s huge. Definitely, this moment would be one of the memories that we would want to come back to again.”

"I really felt the warmth of the people here," Jungwoo says through the translator. "I think this is the reason why it allows me to come back to the Philippines and really appreciate the opportunity to be able to come back and see you all once again."

Including the fan and press conference, the trio have visited the country thrice, past times with the rest of NCT 127, another sub-unit of NCT of which the three are a part of, members in 2019 and 2022. Who could ever forget Jaehyun’s “Manila sweet as vanilla” last year? And apparently, according to Jaehyun in the fancon, Manila is still sweet as vanilla. We're kilig. 

NCT DJJ through the eyes of the members

Despite having been together for the longest time through NCT, there are still surprises and things to learn about each other as they got together for NCT DoJaeJung. Jungwoo, for one, learned how both Doyoung and Jaehyun are very detailed.

Jungwoo adds, “Doyoung helped me and gave me a lot of opportunities, and the best thing about Doyoung is that he buys me a lot of delicious food.”

“Jaehyun as a person is very sweet. He really takes care of his [younger sibling], and he would always call me, ask me ‘What are you doing?’,” he shares. ICYDK, Jungwoo is the maknae or the youngest of the trio.

Doyoung really likes swimming, shares Jaehyun at the press conference. “The day we came to the Philippines—even before the flight—he asked us if we had swimsuits and if we were ready to go into the swimming pool. He was so ready and really enjoyed it,” he adds. Knowing all the amazing pools and beaches here in the country, Doyoung will for sure have a field day.

And sure enough, the trio did a little bit of swimming.

Meanwhile, what Jaehyun found out about Jungwoo is that he really likes to eat local food wherever they go. Now we definitely know Jungwoo has ticked off halo-halo in his list of Filipino food to try.

Future plans

Definitely more stages, Jaehyun says.

“(Hopefully) Maybe, (more) concerts?” Jungwoo quips.

NCT DoJaeJung made their debut with an EP titled Perfume last April. Their group name, aside from NCT, is a mix of their names—"Do" from Doyoung, "Jae" from Jaehyun, and "Jung" from Jungwoo. They're the fifth sub-unit to be born out of NCT.
