(SPOT.ph) If you've watched Erik Matti's 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival offering, Seklusyon—which he won Best Director for, btw—then you've probably had nightmares about it. (Don't lie, that little girl crying tears of blood is pretty disturbing.) And just in case you're on the lookout for more horror flicks to keep you up at night, you'll want to mark your calendar for his new film Kuwaresma, which premieres on May 15.
In the creepy trailer, Sharon Cuneta starts narrating how her daughter Manuela used a belt to hang herself in their home. She tells Manuela's twin brother that since he's been gone too long, he won't understand what happened to his sister. But he questions his mother—asking if Manuela got pregnant and if their mother punished her.
In between all the family drama, you'll see a shadowy figure haunting the family in the home. It turns out, there's a demon living in their house. By the end, you might think that their father (played by John Arcilla), who makes caskets for a living, might have something to do with it. But the end of the trailer will have you thinking twice about everything you think you know.
Kuwaresma opens in theaters on May 15.
