(SPOT.ph) Growing up, you might have listened to music on cassette tapes and, occasionally, had to go through the extra effort of manually rewinding them with a pencil. Now, they're probably gathering dust on an old shelf. Your phone's memory can handle hundreds of songs and supports streaming, but there's a sense of satisfaction that comes with listening to analog music, and there are still ways to get your hands on old-school tapes: Cassette Store Day Philippines 2019 is happening from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. on October 19 at Limbo, Makati. Admission is free!
Cassette tapes are the star at this event, but there will be other merchandise as well. Participants include United Cassettes, Mutilated Noise, Treskul, Plaka Express, Naga-grown Struggle Records, Ariel Magat, Genjitsu Stargazing Society, Noise Box, CD's Atbp., Erick Records, and Think Positive Records. There will also be folks from Save San Roque to sell tote bags and art for a cause.
You can also catch performances by the following indie artists: The Buildings, electronic music artist Pamcy, Memoryville, TIM ÄWÄ from Lucena, ·wendil, chiptune composer Kino1998, Marty McFly, Grrl Cloud, Naga band Anesthesia PH, five-piece group Washington Drama Club, Cebuano duo bedtime television, and more.
UPDATED (September 19, 4 p.m.): This article was revised to exclude CDs and vinyls. Only cassettes will be sold at the event.
