What We Know So Far About the Friends Reunion

(SPOT.ph) You might have new TV show faves, but there will always be that one series that holds a special place in your heart. The one that you've watched and rewatched, but it just never gets old. For many, that show is the sit-com Friends. It's been 25 years since the first episode aired and it's still a daily habit, thanks to Netflix. Jennifer Aniston got fans excited on October 15 with an Instagram photo of the cast, and it seems it was a hint that you'll be seeing more of Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Phoebe, and Joey: There's a Friends reunion special in the works at HBO!

Details are scarce, but according to reports so far, it won't be a reboot or a remake of the show. During a Friends panel at the Tribeca TV Festival, co-producers and executive producers Marta Kauffman and David Crane confirmed that it wasn't going to be a continuation of the series. Crane added that Friends stands well on its own already: "We did the show we wanted to do. We got it right, and we put a bow on it."

Aniston's Instagram post of the cast reunion not only marked the opening of her account, it shut down the photo-based social media platform, too. In an interview with Deadline, Aniston said that there would be no reboot, but she's open to working with the original cast in time for the show's 25th anniversary. "I would love for there to be something, but we don’t know what that something is," she said. "So we’re just trying. We’re working on something."
