It looks like even bigger players in our local media industry are getting into podcasts. Star Cinema, a company under ABS-CBN Films, is set to release its first digital project—a podcast—titled Listen 2 Love, an episodic series of digital audio files that are heard on music streaming sites.
Star Cinema calls Listen 2 Love a "lovecast" or a podcast anthology that falls under the love-story genre. It will be streamed on their YouTube and Facebook accounts, as well as on Spotify.
The first installment of Listen 2 Love is an adaptation of The Four Bad Boys and Me, a story written for Wattpad by author Tina Lata. The Wattpad title has racked up over 302 million views and has been turned into a book published by Summit Books under its Pop Fiction imprint.
Star Cinema's podcast version of The Four Bad Boys and Me will feature former Pinoy Big Brother: Otso housemates Kaori Oinuma and Rhys Miguel, and Pinoy Big Brother: Otso love team Karina Bautista and Aljon Mendoza. Star Magic Circle 2019 Jeremiah Lisbo, Mark Rivera, Alora Sasam, Chie Filomeno, and Jenny Jamora complete the cast members of the lovecast.
Pinoy Big Brother Lucky 7 big winner Maymay Entrata also plays a special participation as DJ Zari or the Master Lovecaster.
Listen 2 Love is Star Cinema's first digital project while movie productions remain on hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Just recently, Star Cinema's sister company, Black Sheep, ventured into producing the Boys' Love series titled Hello, Stranger, its first digital project since the outbreak of the deadly virus. It is top-billed by JC Alcantara and Tony Labrusca, and is streamed on Black Sheep's YouTube page and iWant, the streaming site of ABS-CBN.
