You Can Stream Crazy Rich Asians Real Soon
Catch Rachel and Nick's love story!
(SPOT.ph) Anyone remember that memorable mahjong scene in Crazy Rich Asians? Spoiler alert: It was arguably the best takedown we've seen in any Asian film, including martial arts ones. Yup, we said it. Well, here's your chance to play that scene on repeat—and the rest of the 2018 blockbuster hit, too—because Crazy Rich Asians starts streaming on Netflix on October 15! The movie is among the films on the Coming Soon tab of the streaming service's app.
In case you need a recap, this film follows Rachel Chu (Constance Wu), a New Yorker whose mom emigrated from China. Chu has been invited by her boyfriend Nick Young (Henry Golding) to fly to Singapore and meet his family—only it turns out he just so happens to be the scion of one of those almost-mythic crazy-rich Asian families. Rachel is left struggling to fit in, and begins to question if her love for Nick is worth the stress of being part of Asia's high society. Plus, there's Nick's mother, Eleanor (Michelle Yeoh) who isn't exactly the warmest person to be around.
The much-awaited film is based on Kevin Kwan's bestselling book of the same name. Crazy Rich Asians was considered a game-changer in Hollywood, being the latest film to be produced with an all-Asian cast after The Joy Luck Club in 1993.
this strange new world.
