This Korean Action-Comedy Flick Was Shot in the PH; Here's Where to Watch It
The Golden Holiday stars Mon Confiado and Kim Sang-ho from Kingdom.
(SPOT.ph) Buzz about The Golden Holiday has been going around since actor Mon Confiado posted cool sneak peaks in July—and we know you're excited to see how this Korean production set in the Philippines will go down. Around 80% of the film was shot right here on our shores! Best part? The movie is finally screening in local theaters and we have the list. But first, check out the action-comedy flick's trailer below.
Anyone else excited for the chase scene in what looks to be the streets of Manila? (Also, was the bad guy wearing a barong at one point?). The Golden Holiday revolves around the old legend of the Yamashita treasure, hordes of gold supposedly stolen by the Japanese and stored somewhere in the Philippines during World War II.
The Golden Holiday
In this modern-day reimagination of the old tale directed by Kim Bong Han, we follow Detective Byung-Su (Kwak Do Won) as he goes on a family vacation in the Philippines gone utterly wrong. While here, he crosses paths with an old friend—played by Kim Sang Ho, Kingdom's Moo Young—currently imprisoned for a murder tied to the famed Yamashita treasure. Mon Confiado joins the cast a local policeman entangled in the bloody hunt for the legendary treasure.
If you want to see the story play out on the big screen, check out the list of indoor cinemas where it's currently screening. The Golden Holiday is showing at different SM Cinema branches as well as some malls in the south.
