Queer Eye's Antoni Porowski Is Giving "Cooking Lessons in Quarantine"
Want to learn how to make "Keep Calm-lette"?
(SPOT.ph) It may not feel like all things just keep getting better at the moment, but some people are making the most of it while also helping others get through the recommended global quarantine. Celebrities like John Legend, Chris Martin, and the members of Death Cab for Cutie have livestreamed mini-concerts; others, like Queer Eye's food guy Antoni Porowski, have taken to giving tutorials from their own homes—in his case, kitchen tutorials via IGTV. He calls his series Quar Eye: Cooking Lessons in Quarantine.
Here's a peek at the first installment, featuring what he calls the "Keep Calm-lette":
"An omelette made in isolation is still an omelette," Porowski argues. He served his version of the omelette with a black bean salsa, which he made with "whatever was left at the grocery store." Episode two features "Zoodles with Meat S.O.S," which he describes as a "simple af (sic) meat sauce" with plenty of spinach.
Not only is he showing you how to make the most of pantry-stock ingredients, but he's also highlighting ways Americans can help one another through this especially difficult time.
Porowski faced backlash in the early days of the Netflix reboot for teaching their heroes recipes that were supposedly too simple; critics accused him of not actually knowing how to cook. His background proved otherwise—he used to cook meals for former Queer Eye food expert Ted Allen as his personal assistant.
