Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez married in two ceremonies in Baguio City September 13
TV Patrol World report on Mariel Rodriguez and Robin Padilla’s wedding
TV host Mariel Rodriguez and actor-host Robin Padilla were married twice in Baguio City on September 13, reports PEP.ph. Jimmy Ong, an Ibaloi native priest, conducted the first ceremony locally known as mambunong at Camp 7, according to ABS-CBNNews.com.
Thinking he was just going to attend a shoot, Ong told TV Patrol World that he was surprised to see the couple wearing traditional Ibaloi clothes. Padilla, a Muslim who converted to Islam in 1996, chose to marry Rodriguez in an Ibaloi ceremony because his mother, Eva Cariño, is an Igorot. Padilla’s youngest son, Ali, witnessed the wedding.
The couple drank rice wine to symbolize their love and performed the native tayao dance to show they are officially married. Pig’s blood was smeared on their faces as part of the ceremony. Afterwards, they were married again in a ceremony officiated by a pastor held in a private home.
Padilla, 42, and Rodriguez, 26, met when the action star was tapped to temporarily host Wowowee in May. In July, they became co-hosts of the game show that replaced Wowowee, Pilipinas Win na Win. On August 7, Padilla declared his love for Rodriguez on Entertainment Live and gave her a diamond ring said to be worth P1.2 million. He said, "Alam n’yo... pag nangyari ’yong sinasabing magandang kasal, hindi namin yun ililihim (You know... when the so-called beautiful wedding happens, we won’t keep it a secret)."
