Carlos Celdran caught on cam taking down anti-RH Bill streamer posted outside CBCP office
24 Oras report
(SPOT.ph) Artist-activist Carlos Celdran was caught on a closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) taking down an anti-Reproductive Health (RH) Bill streamer posted outside the office of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) in Manila. GMA News Online reports that the streamer reads "Choose Life, No to RH/RP Bill."
The RH Bill supporter admitted that he took down the streamer, according to a 24 Oras report aired yesterday. "I’ll probably take down another tarp." The Union of Catholic Asian News (UCAN) earlier quoted Celdran, "Stop getting involved in politics and spreading lies and I'll stop ripping down your signs."
UCAN reports that the CBCP secretariat and bishops are discussing whether or not to file charges against Celdran. Pro-life Philippines President Eric Manalang said Celdran’s behavior should be corrected "before it gets worse." He added, "If Celdran wants to express his sentiments, he should do it in a decent way and not by destroying and stealing private property."
Yesterday, Celdran went to the Manila Cathedral-his first time since staging the "Damaso" protest in September-to go to confession. Earlier this month, he apologized to the Catholic Church for his "Damaso" protest against the church’s opposition to the RH Bill.
