There's no shame in seeking professional help.
(SPOT.ph) The Philippines doesn't have the best reputation when it comes to regard for mental health. Initiatives and facilities promoting such weren't always financed very well and accounted for just 5% of the healthcare budget—not great, considering mental healthcare tends to be costly. Add to that the cultural stigma as embarrasment and shame still surround the subject among Filipinos, as mental disorders would typically be chalked up to personal weaknesses or supernatural causes.
Thankfully, things are changing. The Philippine Mental Health Act was enacted in 2018, marking the very first mental health act legislation in the country's history. Mental health financing also jumped from 57 million to 1 billion between 2022 and 2023. We have a long way to go, but it stands: the prevalence of mental health clinics and facilities is well worth celebrating.

The National Care for Mental Health (NCMH) was established all the way back in 1925, thanks to the Public Works Act 3258. Among the facilities they offer are child and general adult psychiatry, psychiatric emergency intervention, psychological services, and so on.
