In case you were wondering what makes these restrooms unlike your ordinary kubeta, the deciding factors were functionality, aesthetics, amenities (we suppose the all-important bidet is a huge plus), and overall comfort.

Winners were chosen after a "process that combined physical audits with social media voting," according to a report by Social media votes accounted for 20% of the bathroom's points, while a surprise physical check of the bathroom, done by the people behind the Golden Kubeta Awards, accounted for 80%.

The Golden Kubeta Awards are an annual public campaign by the Maynilad Water Services Inc. Since its launch in 2016, the contest has been held to find "the country’s best and cleanest toilets, in order to raise awareness on the importance of proper wastewater management," according to their website.
