LIST: E-Bikes and E-Trikes Banned From Metro Manila Roads
Expect more roads to be added in the coming weeks.
(SPOT.ph) The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has officially banned the use of e-bikes, e-trikes, and other non-motorized conveyances on major roads across Metro Manila.
The regulation will take effect in April, with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) set to release official guidelines later today.
This decision is outlined in MMDA Regulation No. 24-022, which affects national, circumferential, and radial roads including major thoroughfares like EDSA, Roxas Boulevard, and Quezon Avenue, among others listed in the resolution.
MMDA’s ban comes in response to a rising number of road accidents involving e-vehicles, with 554 incidents recorded in 2023.
“Due to the proliferation of e-vehicles, the MMC deemed it imperative to regulate and penalize those who will traverse the national roads using such means of transportation,” MMDA Acting Chairman Atty. Don Artes said in a press conference.

Do note that this list of 20 roads is only initial as LGUs will still determine additional thoroughfares where e-bikes and e-trikes will be banned.

Penalty for e-bike and e-trike drivers
Violators of this new regulation will face a fine of P2,500 (even if they are carrying a license), while those operating electric vehicles will be required to present a valid driver’s license upon request. Failure to do so could lead to the impoundment of the vehicle.
