Tropical Storm Bebinca Will Enter PAR on Friday—PAGASA

(SPOT.ph) Severe tropical storm Bebinca is charting a course towards the country and will enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Friday evening, weather bureau PAGASA said.

“On the track forecast, Bebinca will enter the PAR region tomorrow afternoon or evening and exit the PAR region late tomorrow evening or Saturday morning,” stated PAGASA in their 10:00 am tropical cyclone bulletin Thursday, September 12.

The severe tropical storm's center, currently located 1,975 km east of Central Luzon and 1,930 km east of Northern Luzon, is set to bring cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms to Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate this Thursday.

Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, and the rest of Visayas and Mindanao will also experience similar weather due to the southwest monsoon.

Meanwhile, Bebinca’s trough will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms in Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and the rest of Bicol Region.

PAGASA advised mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, not to venture out to sea under these conditions, especially if inexperienced or operating ill-equipped vessels.

Bebinca to Enter the PAR

As Bebinca intensifies into a typhoon and enters the PAR on Friday, it will be renamed Ferdie. This will make it the sixth tropical cyclone to affect the country this year. However, PAGASA has clarified that “throughout the forecast period, Bebinca will remain far from the Philippine landmass,” so it may not directly impact the country.

Today, cloudy skies and rain are prevailing across most parts of the country due to the combined effects of Bebinca’s trough and the southwest monsoon.
