(SPOT.ph) We're pretty sure you've been wanting to channel your inner Lara Croft and check out the ancient temples of Angkor Wat, if you haven't already. Either way, here's your chance to explore more of this kingdom's culture and go beyond the usual temple run: Cambodia is extending its visa-free policy for Filipinos from 21 days to 30 days, announced the Philippine Embassy in Cambodia on June 13.
This extension comes after a request made by the Philippine Embassy in Cambodia, approved by the Kingdom "in the spirit of reciprocity." Passport holders from countries of the Association of Southeast Nations were only allowed to stay a total of 21 days in Cambodia visa-free prior to the extension, according to a report by ABS-CBN.
Filipino tourists can also apply to stay for another 30 days once they have used up the initial visa-free, 30-day period. This gives Philippine passport holders a total of 60 days to experience Cambodia visa-free (and hassle-free). But if you intend to stay for more than the allowed period, it would be best to apply for visa immediately upon arrival, noted the embassy.
Aside from Cambodia, the Philippine passport gets holders visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 71 countries, according to the Passport Index by Passe/port. This places our passport on the 64th power rank, out of 94.
