Heads Up: Voter Registration Is Open From August to September

(SPOT.ph) The midterm election on May 13 was just as messy as Philippine elections usually are—to put it lightly. But if you weren't able to vote for the people who you feel can properly run this country of ours, then be sure to register for the next one: the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in May 2020. The Commission on Elections announced that voter registration will resume on August 1 and will run until September 30, according to a report by the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

“Voter registration is expected to run from August 1 to September 30, 2019, inclusive of Saturdays and holidays,” said James Jimenez, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Spokesperson, according to the report. Around two million new voters are expected to register, so be sure to take advantage of the Saturdays and holidays as soon as possible!

Minors who registered for previous Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections need not register again, as "their names will automatically be transferred from the SK list of voters to the regular list of voters," said Jimenez in the report.
