Archie and the Gang Hang Out at Rizal Park for This New Comic-Book Cover
It's a Philippine exclusive!
(SPOT.ph) Who thought we'd ever see Jughead take a break from his usual burgers and try out isaw instead? Well, it looks like the gang from Archie comics will be exploring isaw and more with an upcoming Archie and Friends Travel series! Filbar's and Comic Odyssey has released the first-ever Philippine exclusive cover for the Archie comics, featuring the gang at—where else?—Rizal Park.
The illustration, which was done by Manila-based artist Miguel Mercado, features a more old-school vibe that older readers of the comics would totally agree with (though even Riverdale fans are sure to like this version of the timeless characters, too). We've got the gang doing the mandatory tourist picture in front of the Rizal monument: spot Betty and Veronica about to dig into some halo-halo, Archie and his Manila shirt, Reggie completely in character taking selfies, and, of course, Jughead with two sticks of isaw.
"I am so happy seeing something from my childhood," said Mercado, in a report by ABS CBN News. "Me being a big fan of Archie as a kid and seeing them ‘coming here’ and drawing it just made me so happy," he added, saying that he hopes fans feel the same hit of nostalgia and happiness when they see the cover.
This issue, which is set to come out in November, will feature the gang coming to Manila for a concert tour. There is no information just yet on the price, but this variant of the issue will be sold exclusively through Filbar's and Comic Odyssey.
