After Nearly a Decade, BGC's Comic Odyssey Is Closing Down
Time to say goodbye to their branch in Fully Booked.
(SPOT.ph) Bookstores where you can just chill and browse for hours on end are few and far between in Metro Manila—and it looks like we may have to say goodbye to another beloved spot for readers of all kinds. The Comic Odyssey is closing its popular branch on the 4th floor of Fully Booked, Bonifacio Global City, on Sunday, August 2. This move is in line with their shift towards online selling, noting that, "the pandemic has completely changed the face of traditional retail," in an announcement on their official Facebook page.
A stronghold of the comics scene in the Philippines, this particular branch has been the site of many events and gatherings. They have hosted the annual Free Comic Book Day since they opened up the branch in 2012, among many others. "What we've enjoyed the most are the friends and connections we've made along the way," they said in the announcement.
Back issues still in stock over at the closing branch will be at 50% off until August 2. While the Robinsons Galleria and Eastwood Mall branches will remain open to serve customers, Comic Odyssey is refocusing most of their efforts into improving their online and delivery services—so no need to say goodbye entirely.
Comic Odyssey has been a constant in the comics community since 1997. They stock everything from new issues to vintage ones from major publishers and small press titles around the globe.
