LOOK: Magnitude 7.3 Earthquake Leaves Vigan, Ilocos Sur in Shambles

(SPOT.ph) A powerful earthquake was felt by residents of Northern Luzon, with tremors felt all the way in Metro Manila, on Wednesday morning, July 27. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology initially reported that a 7.3-magnitude seismic activity hit Abra at a depth of 25 kilometers; Intensity IV was felt in Quezon City.

A second report indicated a magnitude 7.0 earthquake with a depth of 17 kilometers.

There's no tsunami threat, according to the agency.

As the Internet was abuzz with this incident, as photos of damaged buildings and properties in the heritage center of Vigan, Ilocos Sur also came out. According to initial reports of residents in the province, Calle Crisologo, Syquia House, Favis House, Vigan Cathedral, and other old houses incurred severe damage.
