BINI’s “Salamin, Salamin” Dubbed A Witchcraft Anthem by Local Ministry

Is the song merely catchy or catching a spell?

(SPOT.ph) Every now and then, a pop song gets caught in the crosshairs of religious groups for supposedly corrupting the youth with its message. It's latest victim is P-Pop girl group BINI's latest hit track, “Salamin, Salamin,” which has been branded by a local ministry as not just ungodly but a song of witchcraft, too.

On May 14, Fellow Jesus Ministry took to Facebook with a piece of advice: Steer clear of worldly music, especially  “Salamin, Salamin,” which has been playing everywhere. The group cautioned its followers the song might lead them astray if they continue to listen to it.

“Beware sa mga christian, preachers, pastors, ministers na walang nakikitang mali sa pakikinig ng mga worldly music…Salamin² is a Witchcraft song..  Please wake up church!” the group Follow Jesus Ministry wrote in a post.

“Maari nitong maimpluwensyahan ang ating mga pagiisip at paguugali, protektahan po natin ang ating mga puso at isipan mula sa mga walang kabuluhang salita dahil ang mga salita ay espiritu. Maari ding ilayo nito ang ating mga puso mula sa Panginoon.”

The ministry went as far as to underline certain lyrics of the song to drive home its point. Ex: “Salamin salamin sa dingding nasa’n na ang pag-ibig,” which was linked to a book called “Mirror Magic (Scrying, Spells, Cruses, and Other Witch Crafts)” by the author Viivi James.

The statement ended with Biblical warnings from Deuteronomy and Timothy against engaging in or tolerating false teachings, placing “Salamin, Salamin” on Follow Jesus Ministry's metaphorical blacklist.

Now this isn’t just some random post by a small local church—Follow Jesus Ministry has over 381,000 followers on Facebook. The post itself warning against "Salamin, Salamin" has gained 6.2K reactions and 2.2K shares. A quick browse of the ministry's page reveals that BINI isn’t the first to fall under its scrutiny. Earlier this year, Dragon Ball Z and The Weeknd were also tagged as ungodly, even satanic, influences.

Reactions to the “Salamin, Salamin” accusation were mixed, with some thanking Follow Jesus Ministry for the timely reminder while others called it a reach.
