(SPOT.ph) Old bookstores. Outlet stores. A different town, heck, a country. What are the places you'd willingly get lost in? In Quezon City, the nooks and crannies of Maginhawa are exactly that type of spot—what with the number of hidden gems in the area, peppering the positive-trait streets that branch from the main lighthearted one. You can let your feet wander and you’ll find yourself stumbling upon gem after gem after gem.

In one hidden spot along Maginhawa, located past a gate and into a courtyard of sorts, is a store that hides just as much treasure as the neighborhood. What's the X that marks the spot, you ask? A magical store brimming with vintage and secondhand pieces.

Get lost in secondhand, vintage pieces in Season Pass in Maginhawa, Q.C.:

Lean, who moved to the Metro from Aklan for college and has been here since, tells us that he wasn’t fond of thrifting in ukay-ukay stores before. Key word: before. “Iba yung mga pinag-kalakihan ‘kong ukay talaga, eh. ‘Yung mga corny ‘yung designs,” Lean tells SPOT.ph one rainy afternoon at the shop. “Pero makikita mo na may mga ibang part pa ng ukay na, ‘Uy, ayos ‘to ah. Kaya ko ‘tong suotin’, mga ganon. So, ‘doon ako natuwa.” His newfound liking for secondhand pieces led their shop to its current path, a curated vintage store, around 2019.

“We started as a streetwear store. So focus namin was brand new stuff na galing sa U.S.—binibili namin tapos we sell here,” he explains. “Around 2019, we slowly transitioned to vintage, secondhand, kasi madami nag-dadala sa amin ng used na gamit nila.”

They took inspiration from Round Two, a vintage shop based in the US, and originally set up along nearby Magiting Street. Now, he and his friends have got a much bigger space—three whole floors chock full of gems—along Maginhawa. “Nagusap-usap kami noong pandemic na, syempre mahirap ‘yung time na ‘yun, na what if kunin nalang natin ‘tong space tapos tayo tayo [nalang] sa isang building,” he recounts. You can also keep watch on their Instagram page for events and thrifting fairs with other shops.

Once inside, you get to see the treasure in the form of vintage, streetwear, archive, and even reworked pieces laid out in rooms you’ll—again—be willing to get lost in. You can spend hours and hours sifting through racks, ecstatic at the prospect of scoring one-of-a-kind pieces.

What’s great about this store is that it holds very personal curation from the owners themselves, depending on their own interests and personality. As Torres cheekily tells us, his own curation grows up with him, so the style isn’t as loud as before. Lean says, “(The curation) evolves talaga kung ano ‘yung personal style namin and hilig namin,” which you can see throughout the space.

And even better, there are people around the floors who know the clothes, meaning that if you’ve got questions about a piece, or just need someone to hype you up when you try them, you’re covered. Plus, you can definitely haggle with them, but you didn’t hear it from us.

The ground floor contains Lean’s curated pieces, Season Pass itself; up on the second and you’ll see different collections from friends and community members—each with their own tastes and styles. You can get everything from cool retro graphic tees to sneakers to bags to jackets and more. Now if thrifting and vintage is your thing, and you’re here for the truly archival pieces, head on up to the third floor where most of the big designer names are stored. If you’re lucky, you might spot some on the first and second, too. From hip-hop, nostalgic cartoon graphic pieces and other pieces with colorful and distinctive prints, et cetera, it's all here. They’ve got essential pieces in stock as well; they might have pieces fit for your rainy season wardrobe or a winter abroad.

When it comes to price range, Lean explains that they try to level everything to their consumers. Buy-one-get-one deals for P1,500, anyone?

Seasons Pass also has an online store, but nothing beats having to see and feel the pieces firsthand. The adventure awaits! Check out some of the pieces we saw in the store below:
