(SPOT.ph) Local vintage clothing store It’s Vintage opened its first store in Metro Manila—after hosting several pop-ups around the Metro in years prior—on Esteban street in Makati City back in 2020. To lovers of old-school fashion, the shop has been a beloved go-to for one-of-a-kind sourced from all over the world and all throughout history—think decades-old band tees, classic jeans, patchwork jackets, and the like. A little over two years later, the homegrown shop has moved to a brand new space not too far from the original. It’s Vintage is back with a new outpost at 195 Salcedo Street in Legazpi Village, Makati City. They officially opened their new doors on September 3.

Where It’s Vintage’s first shop was on the second floor of the Planter Products Building along Esteban—a lucky find for casual passersby and a hidden gem for those in the know—their newest outpost is right by the sidewalk; the kind of unexpected place that draws people in. Take a stroll along Salcedo street and you’ll find yourself instinctively doing a double take when you pass the store’s colorful, delightfully unusual space, which can be seen from outside its glass doors. When asked how they found their new space, owner Fed Pua said he simply looked around the area and asked where he could. And in the spirit of shopping vintage—a process that typically involves a thoughtful hunt through an eclectic range of finds—the store encourages you to do the same. It all starts when you walk inside.
For fans of the OG It’s Vintage outpost, you’ll likely recognize in its new store some old fixtures from the previous, most notably the tree-slash-display-table in the center of the space as well as the fan-favorite fitting-room mirror, which has the store name plastered all over and encourages more than a few mirror selfies. Where the previous outpost’s interior style exhibited what Pua previous described as “ a mix of a mid-century log cabin and a Japanese library,” the new It’s Vintage goes for a more playful-but-understated aesthetic. You’ll spot distinctive framed posters all around—including an as-big-as-it-is-breathtaking poster of the French version of Lino Brocka’s 1984 film Bayan Ko—as well as kitschy accents like hanging skateboards covered in itty-bitty doll parts (no, seriously) and even a bench made entirely of stacks of clothes from Pua's previous brand Factory Boy.
But of course, the main attraction is the clothing and there’s plenty to browse. Wall to wall, the store is decked out in racks of vintage wear, neatly arranged by clothing category for more efficient searching. Perhaps the quintessential vintage find is a good ol’ graphic tee and you’ll find a wide range of them in-store featuring old-school musical acts (we spotted Backstreet Boys, Fleetwood Mac, and Bob Marley just to name a few), classic movies, cult-favorite brands, and even graphic art prints. Best of all, It’s Vintage’s collection is forever rotating with one-of-a-kind pieces constantly finding homes and new, never-before-seen pieces perpetually replacing them. And that goes for more than just their T-shirts.
If outerwear is more your thing, we’d say their collection of jackets is perhaps our favorite of the store’s offerings. Bundle up in vintage windbreakers, racing jackets, sweaters, and more—everything from old-school Reebok to jackets patched in Goodyear, Du Pont, and even Hot Wheels logos. For those on the hunt for more risque styles, you’ll be glad to know It’s Vintage also has its fair share of baby tees, halters, skirts, and dresses that bring to mind fashion from the ‘90s, ‘80s, ‘70s, and beyond. Plus, don’t miss out on their collection of vintage denim as well as their quirky retro handbags while you’re at it.
Even a quick sweep of It’s Vintage will take you on a bit of a roller coaster style-wise and you’re likely to see something up your alley as well as some unexpected finds a little more out of your comfort zone. But in case you don’t quite spot that one old-school piece that just speaks to you, well, that’s the beauty of a vintage store—return in a few days, weeks, or even months, and you may just be greeted by something completely different that wasn’t there before and likely won’t be there ever again.
