(SPOT.ph) Filipino's very own brand of Catholicism has mingled faith with consumerism and/or leisure, which is why in modern times, it's become essential for shopping establishments to have nearby churches or chapels. After attending mass, we've made it a habit to follow it up with a trip to the mall to either eat, do an errand, or mindlessly window-shop, or, in most cases, all of the above.
In this guide, we list down Metro Manila malls with churches or chapels inside or a stone's throw away, making it convenient to satisfy both our need to attend worship and our much-needed time to relax.

These are 10 shopping malls in Metro Manila with gorgeous churches or chapels:
St. Gabriel the Archangel at Uptown Mall
St. Gabriel the Archangel is a Roman Catholic parish located at Uptown Mall's upper deck. The chapel has an intimate space that can only accommodate a handful of people on its pews on each side of the center aisle, which leads up to the altar with a backdrop of the Taguig cityscape. If anything, the most eye-catching detail about St. Gabriel the Archangel is its ceiling which is shaped like a boat and has a hollow cross-shaped center that further illuminates the space.
St. Gabriel the Archangel is at the 4/F of Uptown Mall, 36th Street, 9th Avenue, Taguig City. Masses are scheduled on Monday to Saturday at 6 p.m. and on Sunday, at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Sagrada Familia Church at Gateway Mall 2
The new Gateway Mall 2's church has an impressive, stunning all-white structure, and its distinct shape is inspired by the mitre, a traditional headwear worn by bishops, archbishops, cardinals, and the Pope, that stands out being surrounded by a lush garden. It features a 1,000 seating capacity; modern glass walls that bring in natural light during the day; and high ceilings with a hanging cross by sculptor Wilfredo Layug.
Sagrada Familia Church is at Gateway Mall 2, 255 General Araneta, Cubao, Quezon City. Masses are scheduled on Mondays to Saturdays at 12 p.m. and 5 p.m., and Sundays at 10:15 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 5 p.m., and 6:30 p.m.
Santo Niño de Paz at Greenbelt
One of the most gorgeous mall chapels in the Metro is the Santo Niño de Paz, which is also known as the Greenbelt Chapel as it's hidden inside the Ayala Mall in Makati City. This chapel, surrounded by water and flora, has a recognizable low, dome shape multiple entryways leading to the pews and the altar located in the middle. Look up to the ceiling and you'll see the tabernacle altar which is designed by renowned glass sculptor Ramon Orlina—he's also the man behind the Mudras Cross which is the gigantic cross sculpture you'll see rising from the koi-filled lake as you enter the chapel.
Santo Niño de Paz is at Greenbelt, Legazpi Street, Legazpi Village, Makati City. Masses are scheduled on Monday to Friday at 7:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m., and 6 p.m., Saturday masses are at 12:15 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 6 p.m., and Sunday masses are at 7:15 p.m., 9 a.m.m 10:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 6 p.m.
Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at Power Plant Mall
Seamlessly blending in with Power Plant's chic look, the commercial establishment's chapel definitely has its own sophisticated look that mixes the can-do-no-wrong combination of white walls, marble floors, and dark wood accents as seen on the altar and pews. The chapel gets an even more modern look—dare we say, futuristic—because of its use of hidden lights in the ceiling and altar.
Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is at 5/F of Powerplant Mall (New Wing), Rockwell Drive, corner Estrella, Makati City. Masses are scheduled on Monday to Friday at 12:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., Saturday masses are at 12:15 p.m. and 5 p.m., and Sunday masses are at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m., and 6 p.m.

Saint Padre Pio Chapel at Shangri-La Plaza
For those who frequent Shangri-La Plaza on weekends, it's definitely more convenient to attend mass at the mall's own chapel, Saint Padre Pio Chapel. What's notable about this chapel is the altar in the front, specifically its backdrop that has this cream-colored textured concrete and a modern art-style cross with a warm backlight.
Saint Padre Pio Chapel is at 6/F, Main Wing of Shangri-La Plaza, Shaw Boulevard, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City. Masses are scheduled on Saturdays at 6 p.m., and Sundays at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m.
San Pedro Calungsod Chapel at SM Aura Premier
Located on the seventh floor of the mall, amongst the serene garden and pathways and fresh air (as fresh as it gets, at least), is The Chapel of San Pedro Calungsod. This chapel comes in the form of a cave and has a rib-like design or a sound wave-shape that starts all the way from the entrance and up to the altar.
San Pedro Calungsod is at 7/F SM Aura Premier, McKinley Pkwy, Taguig. Masses are scheduled on Monday to Friday, at 12:15 p.m. and 6 p.m., Saturday masses are scheduled at 12:15 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday masses are scheduled at 10:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.
Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Chapel at Lucky Chinatown
For those in Manila, specifically in the ever-so-busy neighborhood of Binondo, Lucky Chinatown houses Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Chapel. This oratory mizes dark wood walls and pillars, light wooden pews, and marble floors. The altar has this simple yet sophisticated backlight replicating rays of light coming from above.
Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Chapel is at the 3/F, Prosperity Wing, Lucky Chinatown, Reina Regente St, Binondo, Manila. Masses are scheduled on Wednesday, at 6 p.m., and Sunday, 5 p.m.
San Padre Pio da Pietrelcina at Century Mall
If you live in the Poblacion area or find yourself spending your day off here on weekends, you can hear mass at Century City Mall's San Padre Pio da Pietrelcina. The place has a simple combination of eggshell-colored walls mixed with dark wood panels, both on the ceiling and walls.
San Padre Pio Da Pietrelcina Chapel is at L/5, Century City Mall, Kalayaan Avenue, Makati City. Masses are scheduled on Saturdays, at 6 p.m., and Sundays, at 11 a.m.
St. Raphael the Archangel Chapel at Venice Grand Canal Mall
For those who have never explored the gorgeous Venice Grand Canal Mall, this open-air shopping complex has an equally gorgeous chapel called St. Raphael The Archangel Chapel. The chapel's facade has multiple pointed arch entryways that lead to the inside of the sanctuary. The interiors of the chapel notably use more pointed arches, from the windows, the structure of the ceiling, and even the design of the altar's backdrop.
St. Raphael the Archangel Chapel is at 3/F, Venice Grand Canal, McKinley Hill Drive, Taguig. Masses are scheduled on Saturdays, at 6 p.m., and Sundays, at 5 p.m.
Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel at Festival Mall
Located right beside Festival Mall is its own praying sanctuary, Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel. From the outside, this chapel does not look like your ordinary chapel because of its unique shape that's meant to be an inverted white lily which symbolizes purity and the Virgin Mary. From the inside of the chapel, the white lily's "petals" are separated with stained glass which when the light passes through, lights up the space in faint colors.
Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel is at Civic Drive, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. Masses are scheduled on Saturdays, at 5 p.m., and Sundays, at 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m., and 3:30 p.m.
