The Danish variety store opened its first store in the Philippines in late October, giving Filipinos something to be excited about for Halloween, Christmas, and for the year to come. Gashapon Bandai Official

Take a chance and bring home a tiny capsule toy (or seven) when you enter Gashapon Bandai Official’s store in Mitsukoshi Mall in Bonifacio Global City. There’s lots of franchises and miniscule oddities to choose from, and picking which one to gamble on is half the fun. The other half is popping the plastic capsule open to see which one you got. Go alone, bring your friends, or buy tokens in bulk to give away or keep for a rainy day.

Daiso Japan

Did you really enter Daiso if you didn’t walk away with something you didn’t really need but was fascinated with at that time? Known for its cheap prices and wide selection of goods, Japanese store Daiso is home to things that seem to solve problems you didn’t even know you had. That, or the snack aisle beckons and you’re in the mood to try everything out. Fascination for all things tiny truly comes into play here, because why do you need a tiny plant pot or brush?

Miniso

Think Daiso, but more home goods. Miniso’s prices are hard to beat and the store’s offerings cover multiple spaces in your house. Bathroom essentials, room decor, home and living goods, and even skincare can be found on the shelves of Miniso, alongside batteries in bulk, quirky food items, and even stranger plushies. You’ll walk in with a goal and leave with more things than you intended to buy.

Typo

Nothing screams wonderful abubot quite like Typo. The stationery and variety lifestyle store under apparel brand Cotton On houses conversation starters and irresistible curios for your desk, room, and more. Every item is imbued with fun and most times glitter, all the while being useful or just downright unique in your space. The brand also introduces cool collabs from time to time, with Blackpink being the most memorable one this year, for us, at least.

Scribe

Stationery and paper fiends know just how hard it can be to source the best instruments and materials in the Philippines. Local store Scribe makes it easier, giving you direct access to Japanese, Korean, European, and American writing brands in one hub. Hey, even those less serious about paper quality can still walk in and bring home a bookmark endearingly shaped like a cat or a colorful utility pouch perfect for cruising through the airport. This online haven for crafters boasts an extensive catalog of all the wares and tools you could ever need, and those looking to inspect items before buying can do so at their in-person branches. Gone are the days when you’d have to pay exorbitant shipping fees for such materials—most of them are available on Craft Central now. Pay them a visit, but be sure to come in with a budget and a plan, or you might find yourself grabbing everything from the shelves.
