If you're a frequent visitor of the Land of the Rising Sun, you might have heard of the furniture brand Nitori and how they have affordable pieces fit for any lifestyle or aesthetic. The brand has announced that they are opening up shop in the Philippines and it looks like you no longer have to wait as they are officially open at the third floor of MITSUKOSHI BGC in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
What is Nitori?
For those unfamiliar, Nitori was established in 1967 in Japan and is touted to be the country's largest furniture and home furnishing retail chain. It has over 800 stores in its home country and some dotted across Southeast Asia, with Manila being the latest—it's tagged as store #1,002, globally.
As for the goods, think of the brand as a one-stop shop. The Philippine outpost covers the entire third floor of MITSUKOSHI BGC and features quality pieces for every single room in your home in a variety of price points. From quirky bath mats, cushion-type tables, all the way to your usual kitchen necessities, one thing's for sure: exiting the premises with at least one bag is a guarantee.
Price-wise, Nitori is aware that Filipinos love value-for-money finds, "95% of our products are made by our factories which allows us to lower our prices. For the Philippines, we managed to lower it even further than our prices in Japan," says a representative of the brand.
How is Nitori different from IKEA?
The Japanese retailer acknowledges that when it comes home furnishings, Swedish brand IKEA is number-one globally. However, what sets Nitori apart is their goal of having a store in more accessible locations, "In Japan, you need to go to Tokyo if you want to go to IKEA, what sets us apart is that we want Nitori close to your heart and close to your neighborhood."
