(SPOT.ph) Ask anyone who's been abroad where their sandalwood scent—that you can smell from meters away—is from and they'll give you one answer: Le Labo. That's their famous Santal 33. If they smell like musk and jasmine combined, then it's probably Another 13. The New York-based perfumery has been filling the air with their uniquely crafted scents. We first got sight of their board-up in Greenbelt 5, but now it seems that they're also setting up shop in Pasay—specifically, in SM Mall of Asia.

Le Labo is opening a second branch in Manila.
Now that there's going to be two branches of Le Labo in Manila (that we know of so far), you won't need to fly out or ask your friends for a pasabuy. We spotted the Le Labo board-up on the 2nd floor of SM Mall of Asia's Main Mall. For reference, that's the same floor as Zara. You'll immediately spot Le Labo's space when you enter the main mall from the covered walkway that connects the mall to the northbound terminal.
In case you're not familiar with the Le Labo experience just yet, they actually personalize each bottle of perfume when you buy it. In addition to the name of the scent, they include the location, the date, and your name on the box and the bottle itself. That also makes it perfect for heartfelt gifts on special occasions.
Aside from Santal 33 and Another 13, Le Labo's other popular eau de parfum scents include The Matcha 26, an earthy scent that opens with orange notes. There's also the black-tea-inspired Noir 29. Their latest release, Lavande 31, gives an ambery touch to the usual lavender.
Le Labo fragrances are available in 50mL (around P10,000 on their international website), 100mL (around P14,500 on their international website), and 500mL bottles (around P53,000 on their international website). You can get the 50mL if you want to try a scent for a while, the 100mL if you want to make it your signature scent, and the 500mL for future refills. They also have travel-friendly sizes and samples.
Where to buy Le Labo in Manila
While we still have to wait for the opening of the official stores in Greenbelt 5 and SM Mall of Asia, you can already get a headstart on which scent you'd want to buy. You can always buy a bottle or try the samples when you're at the airport abroad or ask someone on a trip to buy it for you.
We also spotted some unofficial sellers of decanted scents on Lazada and Shopee. They transfer small amounts of the fragrances into miniature bottles so buyers can try out the scents before committing to the real thing—because they don't come cheap. And so you don't have to buy them blind. If you want to try them out, we spotted Santal 33 and Another 13 decants ranging from P280 to P1,343.
