FIRST LOOK: Anko Opens Its Doors in Glorietta

(SPOT.ph) We're at the tail end of the year, and it's the season for store openings, with businesses wanting to take advantage of the gift-shopping rush. One brand who's not letting 2024 end without a bang is top-selling and best loved Australian home and lifestyle brand Anko. Just a week ago, we were sharing the news that it's about to open a store in our shores, and now—voila!— Anko opens its doors today, November 7, at their first home in the Philippines, Glorietta 2.
The SPOT.ph team got a first look at the store ahead of its opening, and you know damn well we're taking you with us for a tour.

Check out the first Anko physical branch in Asia at Glorietta.
First things first, the store is huge. Like 1,200-square-meters-huge. To paint a clearer picture, it's the size of three whole stores in Glorietta. Spanning across Glorietta's ground floor activity area, you won't miss it even if you tried. You'll have to close your eyes for a few minutes if you want to skip it and keep yourself from spending before the 13th month pay comes in.
The windows offer a good glimpse of what's inside—which is a lot of stuff at very affordable prices. And when we say very affordable, we mean you'll be surprised to see beautiful, good-quality plates and bowls ranging from P80 to P95 each, with other home essentials priced at P50 even. It has everything and anything under the sun, for every space and human inside your home.
You can just let the wind take you whichever direction once you're inside, but the sections are pretty easy to spot. The first section is the living area. Think home decor with a Christmas theme in time for the Holiday season, amidst candles, throw pillows and cushions, mirrors, stylish bedside tables (some under P2,000!), and more.
The bedroom section is well-stocked with comfy pillows, snug bedsheets, and soft pillowcases, while the kitchen and dining sections are filled with mugs, glasses, plates, bowls, non-stick pans, food storage items, and even table mats and jars. We even spotted spatulas priced at P60 each.
And then there's the storage section. Take it as your sign to declutter and organize your space. It should be easy enough a task what with all these boxes, drawers, baskets, organizers and cleaning tools. They have laundry baskets, hangers that retail for P90 per bundle, a storage bench with racks where you can store shoes underneath, and even clear shoe boxes perfect for your sneaker collection.
Further down, you'll find the bathroom section where various sizes and colors of towels exist. We spotted step stools, racks, and shelves to put your shampoos and conditioners on and hang your loofahs from. Meanwhile, Anko's in-house line OXX and its line of cruelty-free products are the stars of the beauty section. There are also products for hair care, skin care, nail care—you name it.
On the right side of the store, if coming from the main entrance, there are sections dedicated to hobbies, tech and gadgets, as well as sections for kids and pets. For those into arts and crafts, we spotted canvases, easels, and crafting kits like a DIY polymer clay trinket tray kit, even a DIY paper flower kit. Think you can get a jewelry bead design board for P130 elsewhere? We want to see you try.
They have paint-by-numbers printed canvases complete with paint pots and brushes, clay, paint, watercolor, and colored pencils, among other arts and crafts materials. You can also find journals and notebooks. At the tech and gadgets section, Anko boasts wireless headphones, Bluetooth speakers as well as wireless mechanical keyboards and gaming mouses for your dream gaming setup. You can also find phone accessories like phone cases in this section.
Next to it are essentials for pets like trays for cat litter, or a cute little cat cave fleece for P530. There are toys and gear, too. In one corner are cute educational toys for your little furry ones. There are plushies, too, in various forms and sizes. Prices here go for as low as P20.
