MUJI Opens Three-Floor Flagship Store + Bakery in Makati

(SPOT.ph) When it comes to practical home goods, storage solutions, and apparel, Japanese lifestlye store MUJI is a one-stop shop for many Filipinos. For stationery fiends, a MUJI visit is synonymous to a trip to the candy store, and even a foodie has go-tos from their cafe menu. The brand has been around for a while, capturing the hearts of Filipino consumers with its ethos and service, so it only makes sense that they open an eighth branch—their biggest one yet—complete with alteration and embroidery services, cafe seating space, and a bakery with Philippine-exclusive offerings.

The three-floor flagship store in Glorietta, Makati City officially opens today, April 25, and while we know you have the brand's catalog memorized like the back of your hand, it can get pretty overwhelming. Allow us to present you with a quick rundown of what to expect per floor, which promos to maximize, and new things to look out for.

Ground Floor

The Muji Coffee Counter + Dining Area

Enter from the ground floor and you're greeted with the Coffee Counter. MUJI has several branches around the Metro with cafes offering up cool drinks and sweet treats, and the bigger stores equipped with a kitchen to serve their signature curries over rice.

Head on further into the store and a spacious seating area awaits. There are round tables for bigger groups, or even for those willing to share the spot, and bar seating for solo diners. Those working remotely can plug in their devices--there are several univesal sockets available along with ports for charging wires so you don't have to worry about running out of juice.

The Muji Bakery

While tiny sweet treats have been available on the MUJI menu for quite some time now, the newly opened bakery in the flgaship store marks the first time MUJI will be offering goods baked fresh daily.

There are plain and flavored croissants, rolls, and the Philippine-exclusive pandesal and ensaymada available in their classic forms and in ube. These were a hit during opening, and since they're baked on the day, nab them ASAP as quantities are limited.

Tableware

Tableware and dining room staples can also be found on the first floor. Plates and cutlery are on display, along with teacups, saucers, mugs, and everything else you could possibly need to dine or host a get-together. Best part? You can buy the tableware individually so you can mix and match for a fun setup, or bring home specific pieces to pair with the ones you already have at home.

Second Floor

Apparel

Take the escalator upstairs to get to the second floor, where the apparel for men, women, and kids are located. Customers are spoiled for choice with the selection, ranging from capsule-closet basics to more season-specific gear and even patterned pieces. Sleepwear and innerwear are also available to shop, along with their wide selection of socks and footwear for both men and women.

You can customize your clothes, towels, bags and more at the embroidery section. There's a whole booklet of designs to choose from—just take note of the pick-up dates. 

The flagship store also offers free alteration services for MUJI denim pants and chinos. Pants bought on sale can still be altered, for a fee of P200.

Travel Essentials

Also on the second floor are MUJI's organizational tools for travel. Zippered pouches, travel bags, packing cubes, even more bags with compartments—name it and they have it in standard black and other colorways. Of course, their lightweight luggage line also have a home on the shelves, also sold in a variety of colors and sizes based on your preferences and travel needs.

Third Floor

Health and Beauty

Now let's head on up to the third floor. The first thing you'll see as the escalator ascends is the Health and Beauty section that houses MUJI's in-house cosmetics and skincare line, storage solutions, beauty and grooming tools, and other bathroom essentials.

They even have different-sized towels for the hands, face, body, and hair.

Cleaning and Laundry

Right beside it is the Cleaning and Laundry section where you can expect to find laundry hampers, hangers, and drying racks, along with cleaning brushes of every kind, mops, and product refills.

Storage

This is what closet organization dreams are made of. The Storage section is fodder for Marie Kondo tendencies thanks to the sleek, modular system MUJI has maintained and improved over the years. Drawers, baskets, and hampers of every size and shape can be found here, complete with add-ons like wheels, extra lids, and more. Be it clothes and shoes, or beddings and linens, there's a container that can address your every need.

There are also sturdier storage solutions like big crates and metal baskets for bigger, heavier items around the house.

Living Room and Bedding

Furniture is dotted all over the MUJI flagship store, but you'll find most of them on display on the third floor. The brand's understated but functional furniture for the living room can be tried and tested here. More than anything, it's a space for you to imagine what it would look like in your own home.

Right beside it is the Bedding section, where beds of different sizes and accompanying pillows, pillow cases, blankets, and other linens can be viewed. Plus points for displaying the linens by color so you can easily grab matching sets or see how the different shades complement each other on a display bed.

More than just showing you what's available, MUJI displays goods in a way that show you how the products look together and work with each other to help you achieve your vision of a cozy bedroom, a functional bathroom, and an inviting living area. Sure, it's giving delusions of an HGTV home, but daydreaming is free.

Stationery

Of course, it wouldn't be a MUJI without the Stationery section. The brand's catalog of writing instruments and desk storage solutions has amassed a cult following, and for good reason. Pens, markers, and highlighters of every shade are stocked in full, along with their vast selection of notebooks, paper products, and other office or school accessories. Minimalist, functional, and modular, we totally get why people who go MUJI just can't go back.

There are shelves upon shelves of desk storage and organization tools, so it's only a matter of holding yourself back and getting only what you really need.

MUJI Flagship Store Opening Weekend Promos

Opening weekend offers are not to be missed. From April 25 to 27, MUJI Members can enjoy deals and freebies exclusive to the Glorietta branch. For every purchase of P1,500, members can get a MUJI Jute Bag with an exclusive Glorietta print, until supplies last.

There's also a Buy 1 Get 1 promo on small drinks for the weekend. Starting April 25 until May 4, select items will be 20% off. Partake in the experience MUJI Challenge and you stand the chance to win some stationery, a jute bag, and their instant curry.

For every P1,500 single receipt, you can also get one session at the MUJI Photobooth from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. There's also going to be a food tasting activity for their Hot Choco Tablea Drink and Butter Chicken Curry from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The MUJI Flagship Store is located on Levels 1, 2, and 3 of Glorietta Ayala Center, Makati. Doors are open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday to Thursday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday to Sunday.
