(SPOT.ph) To this day, Nokia is best known for their 2000s-era cell phones. Kids of the '90s and aughts know that the Finnish tech brand ruled that period with classic models like the famously indestructible 5110, the business-oriented 6310, and later, the once top-of-the-line N95. Though the mobile phone industry has changed radically since the days Nokia was king, the company continues to explore the gadget landscape and innovate their offerings. Aside from revamped versions of their old-school phones, the brand has dipped its toes into audio with their very own wireless earbuds and even tried its hand at personal tablets. And ICYDK, they also make laptops. In late February, Nokia unveiled their soon-to-release PureBook Pro laptop. Here's everything we know about it so far.
What to Expect From the Upcoming Nokia PureBook Pro Laptop
To be clear, the PureBook Pro isn’t Nokia’s first laptop model. They’ve released other iterations of the technology—also called the PureBook—but this upcoming model will be the first to use the "Pro" designation in its name, indicating higher-level specs and features. The PureBook Pro will be available in two sizes: 15.6 inches and a 17.3 inches, the former weighing 1.7 kilograms and the other 2.5 kilograms. Both sizes are larger than previous models in the brand's lineup and generally a pretty big size in the world of personal laptops.
The PureBook Pro will make use of a Windows 11 operating system and have a 12th Gen Intel Core processor with upgradable 8 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD storage. According to Nokia’s website, the laptop was designed for both work and entertainment, combining the necessary features for both in one simple device.
As far as hardware goes, you get a large touchpad, a backlit keyboard, and a fingerprint reader. On the exterior, you’ll find a minimalist chassis with an aluminum cover and sleek curved edges. On the lefthand side, the laptop keeps its range of ports to a minimum with just two USB-C ports alongside a headphone jack. The few ports allow for the laptops to be fairly slim—the smaller of the two being 19.05-mm thick and the larger 19.6-mm. Both the 15- and 17-inch models will be available in four colors: Silver, Red, Blue, and Gray.
In terms of screen real estate, you get a pretty wide display on both models thanks to their sizeable construction. The HD display provides promises sharp visuals perfect for streaming series and taking video calls. The PureBook Pro also boasts four internal spakers, so you get clear and immersive sound for both productivity and entertainment.
According to GSM Arena, the Nokia PureBook Pro will first be distributed to 22 countries worldwide by the second quarter (between April and June) of 2022.The Philippnes was not among the list of 22 countries but we’re crossing our fingers that the laptops will hit our shores someday, too. The 15.6-inch model will be priced at €699 (roughly P40,036) while the 17.3-inch laptop will retail for €799 (roughly P45,764).
