( With Metro Manila now under Alert Level 1, folks are heading out of the house more than ever. Some are spending weekends dining out and meeting friends, others are taking fun trips outside the city, and most notably, a great number of people will be working from the office for the first time in nearly two years. While we're excited about the increased mobility, we understand that heading back into the outside world can be nerve-wracking, especially if you'll be taking public transportation or walking the streets by yourself. If you're looking for ways to take extra precaution, here's something you may want to carry with you:  Local brand Bella’s Personal Safety Alarm can help you keep safe outside of the house.

Bella is working to help make the Philippines a safer place for women who are disproportionately affected by violence and physical assault. This handy device, which can be clipped onto a bag, belt loop, or keychain, works by creating a loud 130 dB sound when activated. To put that into perspective, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention states that the sound of a motorcycle engine running is about 95 dB and any noise above 70 dB, when played for a prolonged period, can damage your ears. This built-in alarm—along with the gadget's flashing strobe light—can be activated should you ever need to defer an attack, create a momentary distraction, or signal to those around you that you need help. It's a useful tool to have with you if you're ever by yourself, especially at night.

The Bella Personal Safety Alarm is available online.
