(SPOT.ph) Unless you still go to school (whether as a student or as a professor), you probably don't have much access to a library. These quiet places often have a comprehensive selection of hard-to-find titles and rare books from decades ago. Good thing there's the Quezon City Public Library, which opened a new two-storey building in 2017, and has resumed its extended operating hours. Starting on January 9, the main library is open until 7 p.m.
The Quezon City Public Library (QCPL) pilot tested their extended operations for a month in June 2018. After positive feedback, they made these new hours permanent starting in August of that year. The pandemic, however, halted a lot of things and forced the QCPL to rethink their policies--until today.
The schedule for the Quezon City Public Library and other QCPL branches are:
QCPL - Main Library
Gate 3 City Hall Compound, Diliman, Quezon City
Open from Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (except Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.); and every Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
QCPL - Cubao
Lions Building, K-3rd Street corner EDSA, Kamuning, Quezon City
Open from Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and every Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
QCPL -Â Lagro
2/F Atty. Vargas Building Ascencion Avenue, Greater Lagro, Quezon City
Open from Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and every Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
QCPL - Payatas
Visayas Street, Grp 3 Area B, Payatas, Quezon City
Open from Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and every Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
QCPL also made the headlines in June 2021 for opening an all-gender restroom on the first floor. An important move towards inclusivity, this move to open gender-neutral restrooms allows people of diverse gender and identity to use a public facility without fear of discrimination.
