Get Your Steps In: Ampon Alaga Is Looking for Volunteer Dog Walkers
Give some love to rescue dogs.
(SPOT.ph) Dogs are the most patient creatures on land. They wait all day for their owners to come home, know when you need a hug or a sloppy kiss, and never request anything—other than, of course, one or two walks a day. Rescue dogs don't have the same humans to give them the same love and care, but this is your chance to change that. Ampon Alaga, the rescue and adoption project of PETA Asia, is looking for volunteers to walk their rescue dogs.
To sign up, send your full name, cellphone number, and preferred date and time. Ampon Alaga will send you a message on where to meet them in Rockwell, Makati City. Time slots are from Monday to Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and every Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Ampon Alaga reminds people to sign up only if they're committed to this volunteer work. No-shows cause huge inconvenience among the staff and a big disappointment among the dogs. "The dogs do not have the luxury of being able to roam around all day so the walks are the most important part of their day," they said in a post.
What to Expect as a Volunteer Dog Walker
According to Ampon Alaga, "you'll be walking with a staffer for each batch of dogs for about an hour or so, so wear comfortable walking shoes. The dogs are very affectionate and will ask for a lot of cuddles and belly rubs! Wear clothing you can comfortably move in. Sometimes the dogs get zoomies and you'll have to catch up with them." Bringing your own water tumbler is advised.
Requirements to be a Dog Walker for Ampon Alaga:

- Must be 18 and over
- Must be comfortable handling dogs on leash for at least an hour and keeping them secure at all times
