Baguio's Igorot Stone Kingdom Reopens to the Public

(SPOT.ph) Back in November 2022, the local government of Baguio closed down the Igorot Stone Kingdom, citing permit violations and structural concerns. The outdoor tourist attraction, which opened in 2021, features Cordilleran lore and culture and is most known for its interesting fortification. A little over five months after its closure, it looks like all is well, as the Igorot Stone Kingdom reopened to the public on April 3.

Here's what we know about this Baguio Attraction's reopening:

On their Facebook page, the Igorot Stone Kingdom quoted abrenian.com's post stating, "LOOK: The Igorot Stone Kingdom is opening again today, April 3, 2023."

In an exchange with SPOT.ph, Igorot Stone Kingdom's management also confirmed that they are open once again from Monday to Sunday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The park's administration has also noted that the entrance fees to the attraction have not changed. Adults (ages 13 and over) can enter for a fee of P100; senior citizens, PWDs, and kids from four to 12 years old can enter for P80, and children three years old and below can enter for free. 

The Igorot Stone Kingdom highlights the indigenous culture of the Cordilleras. The man-made theme park features stone walls inspired by the rice terraces of Banaue and represents a lost Igorot kingdom of lore. The stone walls that give the park its signature look are built riprap-style, where stones and boulders are interlocked to form a wall. The current structure has been fortified with cement for stability.

The park features different towers and statues of Igorot Gods and myths. Other sights to see include the Igorot Gold Mine, modern-looking castles and forts made of cement, and soon-to-be-added life-sized statues of prominent Igorots.
