(SPOT.ph) Stargazing in Metro Manila? In this climate? Yup, it’s more than possible with the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (PAGASA) guidance.
According to PAGASA’s astronomical diary, we can expect as much as three meteor showers—Piscis Austrinid, Southern δ-Aquariids, and α-Capricornids—starting next week, with peak visibility nearing the end of July.

Watch out for three meteor showers in the Philippines
Piscis Austrinid will be visible from July 15 to August 10, with peak visibility on July 29 at 2 a.m. However, PAGASA noted that the waxing gibbous moon will “cause substantial interference in the observation.” So hold on hope for the other two.
Southern δ-Aquariids will be visible from July 12 to August 23, while α-Capricornids will be visible from July 3 to August 15. Both will produce an average of five meteors per hour and have peak visibility on July 30 at 2 a.m.
PAGASA further mentioned that July is also the best month to observe several northern constellations like Hercules, Draco, Corona Borealis, and Serpens. Take a look below:
