LOOK: Ayala Triangle's Festival of Lights Is Back With a Dazzling Display

(SPOT.ph) If there's one Christmas display that's a must-see every year, it's the Ayala Triangle Gardens' Festival of Lights. Even before and during the pandemic—when it had to be moved online— this Christmas tradition in Makati City has amazed and dazzled crowds of all ages with its dancing lights timed to upbeat tunes and Christmas jingles. 2023 is no different because the lights show is back following a grand unveiling on November 14. Catch this year's Festival of Lights at the Ayala Triangle Gardens daily from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. until January 14, 2024.

Here's everything you need to know about the Ayala Triangle Gardens' Festival of Lights:

Dubbed the "Christmas Night with Countless Lights," this year's lights and sounds show has three parts. The first, which is called the "Kaleidoscope of Sight, Sound, and Light," features light projections dancing to a medley of local Christmas songs often heard during this season, including the nostalgic "Tuloy Na Tuloy Pa Rin Ang Pasko" by APO Hiking Society.

Next, we travel back in time courtesy of fun and electrifying tunes from marching band renditions of classic Christmas carols, like "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" by Andy Williams and "A Jolly Christmas" by Frank Sinatra. Fans of jukebox-style music and jazzy beats will have a field day watching this portion of the show, featuring a balance of something old and something new.

Finally, for those looking for something hipper, more modern, and something to bop and dance to, there's also a set with a medley composed of popular K-pop songs. 

But if you think that's all the Festival of Lights has in store in its 15th year, then you are mistaken. Two additional art installations are also lighting up the Ayala Triangle Gardens starting December 2. Relive the wonder of having your Christmas wishes come true at "Wish Upon a Light." This interactive LED screen acts like a wishing pond where guests can write their Christmas wishes and share them with everyone as it is flashed on a wall. Complete your visit by taking a peek at the Liter of Light installation, which features artwork by Filipino artist Leeroy New called "Elemento."

Other Christmas Celebrations in Makati City

The Ayala Triangle Gardens' Festival of Lights is just one of the many holiday-themed installations and activities in Makati City. Ayala Avenue officially started the merriment in the second week of November by lighting their Christmas parols and belen. These giant lanterns have been used by the city for over four years now but have been given a new life by adding a new illuminated wreath to the collection.

Aside from these lighting activities, Makati City will also host a Christmas Concert called Come Home to Christmas: A Holiday Concert at Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati on December 16. Expect performances from the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, Bituin Escalante, Arman Ferrer, Soprano Lara Maigue, and Sofia Zobel Elizalde's Steps Dance Project and their Nutcracker company at this event.
