Anne Curtis Is the Next Filipino Star to Grace Madame Tussaud Hong Kong's Line Up

(SPOT.ph) As of writing, a total of three Filipino celebrities—Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach-Jauncey, boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray—are on display at Madame Tussauds' Hong Kong. And now, that number is about to be bumped up to four. The famed Madame Tussauds Hong Kong has announced that Anne Curtis will be the next Filipino wax figure on their roster. We chat with the star about getting her own wax doppleganger.

Here's what we know about Anne Curtis' Madame Tussauds Hong Kong wax figure:

Anne Curtis' Madame Tussauds wax figure will be the first Filipino celebrity to grace Madame Tussauds Hong Kong’s “Hong Kong Glamour Zone.” Her figure will be in the same area as Hollywood bigwigs like Nicole Kidman, Robert Pattinson, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, and Chris Hemsworth. 

Curtis' wax figure will feature her in a familiar pose, which she says is still top secret for now as a surprise for fans. As she will be placed in the Glamour Zone, her outfit is another exciting aspect of the figure. No specific details have yet been released about the attire, but Madame Tussauds describes the figure's outfit as "exuding a classic look meant to stand the test of time as her likeness is immortalized in the attraction."

Anne Curtis is the fourth Filipino to be immortalized in Madame Tussauds

Anne Curtis needs no introduction. The Filipino multimedia sensation has an acting career boasting a myriad of successful movies and iconic TV shows in her name, including Hiram, Dyosa, Mars Ravelo’s Dyesebel, No Other Woman, and Sid & Aya: A Love Story. She's won over 60 awards for her work and is recognized by major Filipino award-giving bodies like the FAMAS Awards and the Gawad Urian Awards. But being immortalized as a wax figure is a first for the star.

“It truly is an honor. To have this dream come true, I’m grateful and very thankful to Madame Tussauds for choosing me,” says Curtis.

In an interview with SPOT.ph, Curtis reveals that she hasn't visited any Madame Tussauds museum citing her busy work schedule as the culprit. However, Curtis says she is now excited to visit Madame Tussauds Hong Kong and more importantly, share the experience with her daughter Dahlia.

"I'm so excited to bring Dahlia as well because I wonder what her reaction will be when she sees two mummies at the same time.  I don't want to tell her what to expect when we visit. I want it to be a surprise and really just see what her reaction will be like. Will she be confused? Will she be happy? Will she think it's real? Because I've seen how the other wax figures look and you're just like [shocked]. It's so realistic. So I'm actually very curious to find out what her reaction will be."

But aside from being excited about what her daughter will think, Curtis also understands what having her likeness immortalized in the museum could mean for hundreds of little girls seeing the figure. "I want to hopefully ignite a feeling in them to pursue their biggest dreams in life, to dream big because that has always been my tagline and what I would like to instill in the youth—to dream big but work hard to make those dreams come true. "

Madame Tussauds Hong Kong’s skilled team of sculptors from the UK are currently working on the much-anticipated figure, with production projected to run and set to be unveiled by the end of 2024.

Originally opened in August 2000, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is the first permanent Madame Tussauds attraction in Asia. It features 12 different zones making it the home to over 100 glamourous Hollywood actors, K-pop stars, artists, musicians, leaders, and sports heroes.
