A New Disney Cruise Is Coming to Asia With Stops in Japan

(SPOT.ph) Disney is showing no signs of slowing down in Asia. From launching park expansions like that of Hong Kong Disneyland's World of Frozen andTokyo Disney Sea's Fantasy Springs, the House of Mouse is going full steam ahead in bringing more Disney experiences this side of the world.

The Disney Cruise Line, for example, just dropped big news for the Asian market: Asia is getting another Disney Cruise ship this 2029. Check out what we know about this latest development.

Here's what we know so far about this new Disney Cruise coming to Asia

Not to be confused with Disney Adventure which will be based in Singapore starting 2025, Disney Cruise Line is launching another ship in Asia on 2029—this time it will be based in Japan.

The Disney Cruise Line recently sealed a partnership with Oriental Land Co., Ltd. (OLC), a Japan-based leisure and tourism firm who is also the owner and operator of Tokyo Disney Resorts.

Under this agreement, OLC will build and operate a Disney-branded cruise business in Japan expected to begin by early 2029. This business will bring the Disney Cruise experience to the Land of the Rising Sun all year-round. 

Details about the new ship are still under wraps but Disney did let slip that this Japan-based liner is a sister ship to the popular Disney Wish, a crowd-favorite Disney Cruise vessel that features a variety of Disney-themed venues and experiences. But unlike Disney Wish, this new ship will feature select modifications designed with Japanese guests in mind. It is expected to be approximately 140,000 gross tons and powered by liquefied natural gas. It will also have 1,250 cabins or staterooms.

The ship is currently under construction in Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany—the same shipyard where the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny were built or are being built.

This addition to Disney's growing Asian presence marks a whole new world of world-class dining, entertainment, and guest services for Disney fans this side of the Pacific. Aside from this new ship and the Disney Adventure, Disney fans should stay tuned for another Disney Cruise Line experience slated to be announced in the coming months, the third in a slew of developments in Disney Cruise Line for Asia.
