(SPOT.ph) The Philippines is home to the "world's largest chicken-shaped building." No, you didn't misread that—the Guinness World Records recently announced that Campuestohan Highland Resort's quirky giant rooster structure earned a unique title we didn't even know existed.
This isn't just for show. The massive rooster doubles as a hotel, with 15 air-conditioned rooms complete with their own hot and cold shower, large TVs, and comfy beds of different sizes. Let's check out if this chicken-shaped building in Negros Occidental is all it's cracked—or should we say, cocked—up to be.

Check out the World's Largest Chicken-Shaped Building:
Measuring 34.931 meters in height, 12.127 meters in width, and 28.172 meters in length, there's no denying this zany building is massive. Dubbed "handsome Cano’s chicken," you can imagine this rooster hotel's height as a 10-story building looming over everything within its vicinity.
The chicken-shaped structure is located inside the equally wacky Campuestohan Highland Resort, a five-hectare highland resort known not only for its stunning mountain views and cooler-than-usual weather but also for all the crazy, random figures and amenities strewn about.
Trust us when we say that a giant chicken hotel isn't remotely out of place in Campuestohan Highland Resort. Around the park, there are lots of random statues, ranging from cute pandas to fierce gorillas, dinosaurs, and whatnot, ready for photo ops. Aside from that, the resort also has a lot of swimming pools, including a four-lane wave pool and a variety of rides and ziplines for thrill-seekers. There's even a Jurassic Park-themed space where kids and kids-at-heart can opt to play in the slides or the many water parks in the area.
Speaking with the Guinness World Records, Ricardo Cano Gwapo Tan, the man behind the project, says he just wanted to make the unthinkable. "I had a vision to make something with a wow factor that can really leave a footprint of admiration to the public," says Tan.
Unthinkable is the perfect word to describe what he did. Tan completed the project in only 456 days. For context, most buildings take at least two to three years to build, depending on the size, but Tan's Rooster Hotel only took a little over a year. The process included ensuring that the building's odd shape would weather the occasional storm or typhoon that hits the region.
"The rooster can stand against strong winds and can withstand pressure from other roosters, an attitude of Negrense people with resilience to recover quickly from any form of difficulties and hardships in life, one trait that their people have in times of crisis and challenges," says Tan, reflecting on why the rooster shape was a perfect match for the Negrense countryside.
Tan adds, "Negros Occidental has a gamefowl industry that employs millions of people in the Philippines. If you look at a rooster, it looks calm and commanding, imposing and strong, which reflects the attitude of our people."
