Try glamping at Karuna’s Seaview Dome when in El Nido
ICYDK, glamping simply means "glamorous camping." If you're not necessarily the type who likes roughing it out in the great outdoors with only the bare necessities but love the idea of being among the foliage in an unspoiled landscape, then glamping might be your best bet.
Karuna El Nido is a luxe boutique resort with Indonesian-inspired villas on the El Nido hillside. The resort prides itself on being a place where guests can "live life fully, beautifully in the present moment." In fact, the resort's name, Karuna, comes from the Visayan phrase karun na, which means right now. For travelers needing a break from the everyday grind, or those simply looking to slow down and enjoy the present, Karuna El Nido might be the spot for you.
Though Karuna El Nido is known for its villas, which can host bigger groups courtesy of their multiple bedrooms and their own pools, Karuna also offers simpler but sophisticated glamping stays on more virginal parts of its massive, lush property.
There are various glamping accommodations of different shapes and sizes, from a glass pyramid to a jungle treehouse, but what caught our eye the most was their geodesic seaview dome.
The geodesic seaview dome is 38 square meters and has a 60-square-meter private outdoor lounge area. The outdoor deck offers a picturesque view of Bacuit Bay. You can fully appreciate this view and bask in the cool breeze by hanging out by the outer dining table or lounging on the Catamaran net.
We'll be upfront and say that the dome isn't that spacious. It's roughly the size of a decent one-bedroom condominium here in Manila, but considering this is glamping, it's a pretty suite deal if we say so ourselves.
The glamping pod has air conditioning, an en suite bathroom, an open wardrobe, a TV, Wi-Fi, a refrigerator, and a coffee nook.
The glamping pod's elegant boho-style interior is completed by a massive yet cozy king-sized bed facing a window covering one side of the pod. If you're going to push the pod's capacity to its maximum, there's also a queen-sized sofa that can be converted to a bed at night.
Stays at Karuna El Nido's Seaview Dome also come with complimentary a la carte breakfast and free shuttle to and from El Nido town.
Other amenities guests can use when staying at Karuna in El Nido
Aside from the private facilities, there are also a host of resort-wide amenities you can use during your stay here.
Guests at Karuna can enjoy sunset views while taking a dip in the 16-by-5-meter infinity pool. They can also fill their bellies poolside with local and Western eats courtesy of the in-resort restaurant and bar.
If the call of the El Nido outdoors is too strong to ignore, Karuna can also arrange private or joiner boat and inland tours for you and your group. Beach transfers to El Nido's beautiful shores, such as Nacpan, Duli, Lio, and Vanilla Beach, are only a short tricycle ride away from the property.
Massage services can also be arranged during your stay.
How to get to Karuna in El Nido
Karuna El Nido offers paid airport transfers for guests coming from El Nido Airport or Puerto Princessa. Alternatively, guests can take a public shuttle, van, or taxi to El Nido, which is expected to take five to six hours.
If you come from Puerto Princesa, Karuna’s property entrance will be on the right side, beside El Nido National High School. There is also a signage saying “Karuna” and an intercom below it. Follow the road upwards and that will lead you directly to the property. But if you're coming from El Nido town, the property entrance is on the left side.
