LIST: Must-Try Activities This National Arts Month February 2025

(SPOT.ph) February is National Arts Month, and there’s no better time to immerse yourself in the vibrant world of creativity. Whether you’re a longtime arts enthusiast or just looking for a fresh way to spend your days, this month is packed with exciting ways to explore everything from visual arts and theater to music, film, and literature. From limited-time-only exhibits to must-watch performances, here are some activities in the Metro this February to celebrate artistry in all its forms.

10 Days of Art/ Art Walk Makati

See Makati in a new light as several pockets of the city transform into art galleries for 10 days. 10 Days of Art is back and ready to get the ball rolling for Art Fair Philippines 2025. From February 14 to 23, immerse yourself in various exhibitions and interactive installations stretching from the Makati CBD to Circuit Makati, featuring works from the crème de la crème of Philippine contemporary art.

Ayala Museum

This year, Fernando Zobel is at the core of the Ayala Museum's celebrations of National Arts Month. While viewing the core exhibition Zobel: The Future of The Past will go on until July 2025, there are a bunch of supplementary activities like curator talks, guided tours, and activities lined up this February designed to make the exhibit resonate with more audiences.

• Journey Through Zobel's Art: February 9 and 16, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  
  • Guided tours featuring the parts of the world that influenced Zobel's artistic style.

• Sketchbook Seekers: Scavenger Hunt for Kids: February 23, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Explore the Zobel: The Future of the Past exhibit with a storytelling session of Fernando Zobel: The Man Who Painted Ideas.
  • Pre-registration is required.

In addition to these, Fotomoto's I/Land photo exhibition is also on display at the Ayala Museum this month, and several talks and discussions on photography (courtesy of Fotomoto) are scheduled for February 16, 22, and 23. Admission to I/Land and its accompanying activities is free.

Metropolitan Museum of Manila Free Entrance Tuesdays

Founded in 1976, the Metropolitan Museum of Manila is a hub for contemporary art. In celebration of National Arts Month, the BGC museum waives entrance fees every Tuesday this February. All you have to do is register online the Friday before your Tuesday visit.  Note that the museum is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the last entry at 5:30 p.m.

Art Fair Philippines

Art Fair Philippines is a three-day art extravaganza at the Ayala Triangle from February 21 to 23. It is the most anticipated art gathering of the year and is expected to pull out all the stops to deliver art aficionados their dose of Philippine contemporary art in all its forms. Expect art installations, exhibits, film screenings, talks, and more when visiting Art Fair Philippines 2025. You can buy your tickets online or on-site for P750.

QC Art Fair

The folks who brought us the Ghibli Fest and The Little Prince Festival are at it again, this time with a celebration of all things art. The QC Art Fair will be at Street Kohi Mayaman from February 21 to 23 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. This three-day street fair will feature fun activities, performances, and workshops, including watercolor painting workshops, Japanese language classes, poetry reading sessions, and spoken word poetry open mic performances.

PETA's Control + Shift: Changing Narratives 2025

Back by popular demand, PETA’s Control + Shift: Changing Narratives returns for another thought-provoking, socially charged theater experience this February. After a successful 2024 debut, this month-long showcase delivers bold, relevant performances that challenge perspectives and spark conversations about change. This year’s lineup features three gripping one-act plays—Kumprontasyon, Kislap at Fuego, and Children of the Algo—alongside immersive performances from PETA’s signature interactive formats.

The Sandbox Collective's Next to Normal

Kicking off The Sandbox Collective’s 2025 season is the critically acclaimed rock musical Next to Normal. This Tony-award-winning story dives deep into the struggles of Diana Goodman, a mother battling worsening bipolar disorder, and the ripple effects it has on her family. With a stellar cast featuring Nikki Valdez and Shiela Valderrama alternating as Diana, alongside OJ Mariano, Floyd Tena, Jef Flores, Sheena Belarmino,  Jam Binay, Vino Mabalot, Benedix Ramos, Omar Uddin, and Davy Narciso, this production is bound to make you shed some tears with its raw, emotional storytelling around the themes of love, loss, and grief.

Ballet Philippines' Ang Panaginip 

Step into a world of dreams as Ballet Philippines closes its 55th season with Ang Panaginip, an all-original Filipiniana ballet debuting at The Theatre at Solaire on February 28. This unconventional fairy tale follows 17 princesses who break free from palace life to chase their true dreams, blending fantasy with rich Filipino culture. Expect stunning choreography, masterful storytelling, and breathtaking costumes by Jor-El Espina, featuring woven fabrics from various Philippine regions and tribes.
