(SPOT.ph) For the past nine years, the Philippine International Pyromusical Competition has been captivating audiences as fireworks manufacturers from different countries compete to show the grandest fireworks display. This year, however, the international competition will no longer be held at the SM Mall of Asia. Instead, the weekly fireworks shows will be held from February 23 to March 30 at SM Clark in Angeles City, Pampanga.
In a statement posted on February 12, SM Supermalls says that the change of venue is made in support of the ongoing Manila Bay cleanup. "For nine years, the pyrotechnics have always complied with the international standards for environment safety, at par with countries like Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, and famous theme parks around the world."
The annual pyromusical competition will showcase fireworks displays from two countries every Saturday during its six-week run. If you're planning to catch it, here's a rundown of the schedule:
- Platinum Fireworks Inc. (Opening exhibition; Philippines)
- CBF Pyrotechnics (Belgium)
- Pirotecnia Minhota (Portugal)
- Steffes-Ollig Feuerwerke (Germany)
- Brezac Artefices (France)
- Oy Pyroman (Finland)
- Viviano S. R. L. (Italy)
- Pyrotex Fireworks LTD. (United Kingdom)
- Polaris Fireworks (China)
- Fireworks Spectaculars (Canada)
- Surex Firma Rodzinna (Poland)
- Platinum Fireworks Inc. (Closing exhibition; Philippines)
Despite the sudden venue change, SM Supermalls says they will "strive to still provide the same enjoyment" as they have over the years.
The rehabilitation of Manila Bay, headed by the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources, was launched in January, leading to the indefinite closure of both public and private establishments.
