(SPOT.ph)Â Situated alongside high-rise condominiums and hotels along Manila Bay, the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex is a wonderful break to the monotony of these structures. The design of these architectural gems is courtesy of two National Artists for Architecture: Leandro V. Locsin and Ildefonso P. Santos Jr. To better understand the style and history behind the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), Folk Arts Theater, and the Philippine International Convention Center, Dr. Gerard Lico and cultural tour guide Ivan Man Dy are holding a heritage walk on June 15, 1 p.m. Tour fee is at P500.

The CCP Complex Heritage Walk coincides with an ongoing exhibition, Leandro V. Locsin and Ildefonso P. Santos, Jr.: A Legacy of Filipino Popular Modernism, at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila, which is just around eight minutes away from the Cultural Center of the Philippines. The show, which opened on May 23 and curated by Lico, features the collaboration between Locsin and Santos as they shaped modernist spaces in Manila from the 1960s to the 1980s. This includes the mix of Brutalist architecture and bahay-kubo style in Locsin's design of the CCP and Santos's whimsical landscaping of Nayong Pilipino.
CCP Complex Heritage Walk is on June 15, 1 p.m. Tour fee is at P500 and slot reservation is recommended. For more information, follow Metropolitan Museum of Manila on Facebook.
