This Walking Tour Is a Food-Filled Exploration of Binondo and Poblacion
There's a sunset ride down Pasig River in between.
(SPOT.ph) Binondo in Manila and Poblacion in Makati have two things in common. They're both havens for people who love to eat and they're easily accessible via Pasig River—and yes, we're wasting our time crawling through mind-numbing traffic to get from one place to another. But a walking tour lets you experience both haunts in one day without the hassle of commuting on land, through Manilakad's Ferry Double Crawl on February 29 starting at 9 a.m.
This limited-edition, two-in-one walking tour will take you on a food crawl around one of the oldest and biggest Chinatowns in the world, Binondo; and on a pub crawl in one of the hippest places in the Metro, Poblacion. In between filling your bellies and downing drinks, the group will also visit two significant Catholic churches (Sta. Cruz Church and Binondo Chuch), temples and shrines, and the famous Art Deco buildings in Escolta before hopping on a ferry from Escolta Station in Binondo. It will be a sunset cruise down Pasig River until you reach Hulo Ferry Station in Mandaluyong. From there, you can get on one of the small boats—which only costs P4 per head—to cross the river to Poblacion, Makati. There will be a short visit to two old churches (Saints Peter and Paul Parish Church and Poblacion Church) and a couple of ancestral houses, before the much-awaited pub crawl.
Manilakad's Ferry Double Crawl is on February 29. Assembly is at 9 a.m. at Santa Cruz Parish, Santa Cruz, Manila City. Tour fee is at P2,000, exclusive of food and drinks. For reservations, message Manilakad on Facebook or text 0916-359-7888.
