It's not too far from Manila, too!

(SPOT.ph) Pampanga is known for many things: an ultimate food-trip destination, a holiday haven during Christmas season, and an adventurer's weekend getaway. But if you just want a respite from the busy week, this province that's just a couple of hours away from Manila also offers interesting accommodations that you can book. Take for example Hamanda Hotel, which is nestled inside the famous SOUQ Restaurant compound in the capital of Pampanga. The place first opened in January; then, reopened in July following months of closure due to the pandemic.

"I think we rate one of the few boutique hotels in the Philippines that really focus on design and sustainability with reclaimed materials in a modern, homey way. It has a private resort/villa [vibe] in the middle of the city of San Fernando," owner and Swedish interior and furniture designer Andreas Lundin said in an online exchange with SPOT.ph.

From old balusters lining the staircase to used bird cages hanging from the ceiling, every corner of Hamanda Hotel tells a visual story. It features six rooms, each featuring wood ceiling and floors, Pampanga-made furniture, and Filipino-inspired accents.

"As a Swedish designer who loves to travel, I collect inspiration from many places but since I fell in love with Philippine culture I really wanted to use only Filipino materials and decor as a homage to the country," Lundin adds.
