(SPOT.ph) If you’re living with your S.O., you may or may not have hated every minute of every day spent quarantined at home in the last year and a half. (Real talk: You probably had an LQ just today after you forgot to switch on the rice cooker.) And now that everyone can finally go out, you may want a change of environment for the two of you—and by that, we mean, a hotel room that has everything you need, at least, for a night.
Hilton Manila in Pasay City has all-in-one packages called StayCay Your Way 2.0 for couples or families looking for a quiet getaway over the weekend. You don’t even have to think about what you’re cooking for lunch or what you’re having delivered for dinner because the packages already come with meals from their signature restaurants.
The Deluxe Package, which starts at P20,000 nett, includes an overnight stay in an executive room with a pool view, welcome cocktails and mocktails, buffet dinner and breakfast at Kusina Sea Kitchens and dim sum lunch at at Hua Yuan, and special Signature Hotel Pajamas sets that you can take home.
If you’re going there with your kids, you can level up your experience by getting the Premium Package, which starts at P30,000 nett. The room is upgraded to a one-bedroom suite; plus three-hour use of poolside cabanas with snacks, rental of a Polaroid camera, in-room cocktails, and a fun pizza-making class for the whole family.
You also don't have to leave your medium-sized cats and dogs at home since Hilton Manila has a pet-friendly policy that started on July 1, 2019. Just make sure to pre-arrange a pet-friendly room, which comes with a small bed, water bowl, and snacks for your four-legged companion. You can bring two pets at most, each with a maximum weight of 30 pounds. Aside from prior reservation, you also have to e-mail a fully accomplished Pet Waiver before your booking date and pay a one-time fee of P5,000 on top of the room rate.
How This Staycation Hotel in Manila Keeps It Safe in the Pandemic
Like all Hilton properties, Hilton Manila implements the Hilton CleanStay protocol. They identified all high-touch areas in every guest room that would need a lot of cleaning between stays. These are the switches and electronic controls, handles and knobs, bathroom surfaces, climate-control panels, telephones and remote controls, bed and bedding, bath amenities, tables and desks, closet goods like iron and safe handles, and in-room food and beverage. The room is sealed to make sure that it won't be contaminated from the time it was disinfected up until you arrive.
To minimize interaction at the check-in counter, guests have the option to check in through the Hilton Honors App, which has been in use even before the pandemic. You pick a room even before you arrive at the hotel lobby and get your own Hilton Digital Key. But if you want to do it old school, you can still check in through the front desk, which is equipped with clear barriers.
Guests also get complimentary hygiene kits, which have surgical masks, disposable latex gloves, hand sanitizers, and alcohol wipes. Face masks must be worn at all times in public areas. Complimentary housekeeping is available only by request to minimize entry of staff within your space.
What to Do
Hilton Manila is known for its spacious accommodations, which range from a standard 40-square meter room to a 160-square meter suite. Each of these come with Hilton's signature Serenity Bed. Have fun choosing your pillows from their complimentary pillow menu, too.
All rooms come with 55-inch smart television, a walk-in wardrobe, and a huge bathroom with separate shower area and free-standing tub. You’re also provided with bath bombs from Lush to add to your relaxing experience.
If you want to get some sun, Hilton Manila shares the lagoon-style, four-foot Vega Pool with Sheraton Manila Hotel. To make sure that physical distancing is implemented, the sprawling water playground is divided into six pocket zones with a limit of eight guests each and one lap lane at the center that allows two swimmers.
Minors should be accompanied by a guardian at all times. Those who booked the StayCay Your Way 2.0's Premiere Package can hang out at the poolside cabanas for up to three hours. But there are also plenty of beach chairs around the Vega Pool for lounging around.
Their fitness center is also open if you want to stretch those muscles after months of being cooped up behind your WFH desk. Don’t forget to wear rubber shoes and a face mask when heading to the gym.
Where to Eat
Hilton Manila has five F&B outlets. There's Kusina Sea Kitchens, which is the hotel's all-day dining restaurant. Aside from serving your complimentary buffet breakfast, it also features dampa-style serving in the evening. You can ask what's the catch of the day and have it cooked to your liking.
For Shanghainese cuisine with a modern twist, drop by Hua Yuan and order their Xiao Long Bao or Hanging Roasted Duck. If you just want to take a break after a swim, the Freestyle Pool Bar serves light snacks and cocktails.
To cap off the night, you can choose between Madison, which doubles as a cozy café in the morning and an elegant bar in the evening; and Port, which serves whiskeys, cognacs, and dark rums from around the world.
You can also walk to the adjacent Newport Grand Wing, which is home to the newly opened Casa Buenas. With a name loosely translated as "good house," the restaurant's interiors remind you of a traditional bahay-na-batao with capiz fixtures, hand-carved hardwood floors, and Machuca tiles. All materials are sourced from different places in the Philippines to remain true to that Filipino touch.
The food, which is a selection of Filipino cuisine with Spanish influences, is reminiscent of lola's cooking on Sundays with the whole family. Some of their bestselling dishes are: Grilled Marinated Chicken Salad (P320), Garlic Pancit Noodles with Crab Meat (P680), Paella Negra (P1,200 for two to three people), and Grilled Iberico Pork Jowl (P1,300). For dessert, we recommend the Emperador Strudel (P320), which has layers of filo pastry and almond sugar with mango cream cheese filling and warm emperador brandy sauce. (Note: It's not for sharing!)
For a more romantic dinner, Hilton Manila has the Vubble Pod, which is poolside dining at Vega Pool, except you're in an air-conditioned pod (a.k.a bubble). Rates range from P12,500 (Deluxe Menu) to P16,500 (Premium Menu) for a three-course meal with wine pairing for two.
Where to Shop
Hilton Manila is right across the four-level Newport Mall, where you can find brands like Anello, L'Occitane, Tommy Hilfiger, Jo Malone, MAC, Montblanc, and Pandora.
