(SPOT.ph) Capsule hotel or pod hotel as an accommodation option has been around since its first-ever iteration in the world—the Capsule Inn Osaka—opened in 1979. It has since spread to other cities and countries as travelers take advantage of the no-fuss, small-sized, and value-for-money place to stay. But just when you thought you've seen all iterations of capsule hotels, from solo-bed boxes to full-on small-sized rooms, hotels and resorts in the Philippines are always able to offer something new. Take for example Cocoons at Club Laiya, an interesting beachfront resort in San Juan, Batangas.

Here's everything you need to know about Batangas resort Cocoons at Club Laiya:

Cocoons, which is part of Landco Pacific Corporation's 24-hectare development Club Laiya, is managed by hospitality arm Millennial Resorts. From the name itself, you can glean that this accommodation was built with young travelers who are particular about Instagrammable rooms and TikTok-worthy services in mind. And, in that sense, Cocoons doesn't disappoint with its cylindrical sleeping pods that are painted on the exterior with cool beach-themed murals and designed inside with star-like lights on the ceiling. All 33 air-conditioned cocoons have a queen-sized bed, a safety deposit box, a flat-screen TV that's mounted on the wall, and a mini fridge.

Captain Barbozza Restaurant and Bar, on the other hand, is a beachfront dining spot that takes inspiration from the fictional Hector Barbossa of the beloved Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. It has bean bags for lounging around (with a bottle of beer or a tall glass of cocktail in hand, of course) and tables-on-barrels for a hearty dinner of chicken and ribs.
