(SPOT.ph) As one of the Philippines' largest cities, Davao in Mindanao is teeming with food haunts and exciting attractions. But there's so much more to this busy metropolis.
Monfort Bat Sanctuary on Samal Island in Davao del Norte, for example, is a must-visit spot that's known to have a large colony of Rousette fruit bats. You can also check out the Philippine Eagle Center, which focuses on the conservation of the Philippine eagle (Pithecophaga jefferyi).
For the foodies, you can drop by Apo ni Lola to try some of Davao's best durian delicacies—from durian ice cream to durian pie. Bread Shack, in addition, is popular for its fluff rolls. Both food spots are located in Davao City.
If you're in town in August, don't miss the month-long events of the Kadayawan Festival. As a non-religious festival, It culminates with a colorful float parade and fun-filled street dancing on the third weekend of August.
